Making Ehoumaki for Setsubun
Ehoumaki for Setsubun

Made Ehoumaki for bento to mark Setsubun. Originated from Kansai area, and now common throughout Japan, the Japanese eat this long sushi maki for Setsubun to usher in good luck. It should contain seven ingredients and you are supposed to eat it uncut and facing a certain direction. This year apparently is south, southwest. :)

My ingredients were: sakura denbu (fish floss), salmon flakes, egg, kanpyou (seasoned gourd), kanikama (imitation crabstick),cucumber, takuan (pickled daikon). Yums!

Munching to good luck for 2013! Cheers everyone :D

Eat uncut? Wow..it must be weird :p. I love when sushi has a lot of ingredients and it’s delicious for sure.
I hope that your 2013 will be as fantatic as your food!
