Today’s bento has a celebratory mood as it contains osekihan (sekihan), which is a traditional Japanese rice dish made of japanese mochi rice and azuki beans (red beans), giving it the beautiful red hue. Its colour is symbolic of happiness.
Â
I first saw a Japanese friend eating this and have been wanting to make it too. I referred to a popular recipe at Cookpad to make this, though not a difficult dish, it was a good recipe. The beans were cooked such that they remained whole  and not split open, so this looks good for the bento. lol~
Â
Depending on the region in Japan, some recipe calls for sugar to be added while others is served with salt and sesame. Yummy!
Â
Hope you like this oseikihan bento. :D

Simple dishes’re the best! This osekihan looks yummy. You did use sugar or salt? The whole composition’s pretty of course ^^.
