Maki Sushi Obento

Sorry for being on the quiet for the past few days. Have been really busy at work and kind of tired after a busy weekend.

I had 2 students, Maho and Akane from Japan who stayed over at my place as part of their cultural homestay programme in Singapore. It was fun and I hope both of them had fun too. Plus I got to practise my Japanese. :)

They stayed over on Sat and left on Monday morning. I made 2 bentos for them before sending them off. Here is the maki sushi bento.

Contents were: cucumber maki sushi, fried prawn, seasoned beans, edamame, pea, hijiki, tamagoyaki, carrot, strawberry and mango.

This bento is so beautiful!! I like how you decorate bento. How did you make butterfly carrot?

thank u so much!! :) Happy you like it and the decoration :)

I made the butterfly from carrots.

Simply use a butterfly shape cutter, cut out the carrot slice. Then cut into half vertically. Then angle the 2 pieces and attach using pasta stick. this is to make it look 3D.

The pasta stick can be used if you are not consuming the bento straight away, it will soften by the time you eat it. :)
