Have you watched DreamWorks Pictures’ ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ movie? It opened in cinemas yesterday, 28 August 2014!
In conjunction with the movie, Wat Disney worked with Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia to organise a special pop up store last weekend on 23rd and 24th August at Lemon Zest, Pasarbella. Two Le Cordon Bleu alumini showcased their culinary skills in two French recipes – the french omelette and french madeleines.
I was invited to the live cooking demonstration at the Pop Up Store. The prestigious culinary french school, Le Cordon Bleu have campuses around the globe, with the nearest in Malaysia. At Le Cordon Bleu, once can take up a full diploma course in french cooking, bread or pattiserie. Not looking for such long term courses? You can also opt for short term gourmet cooking sessions.
The french omelette was okay for me but I really enjoyed the madelines. The oven temperature was rather high, so the first batch of madeleines had a browner crust, the chef quickly adjusted the temperature after. However, I actually enjoyed the slightly overbaked madelines especially that nicelt browned crust contrast with that inner soft cake. :) (a personal preference I supposed)
Here is the Madeleine recipe from Le Cordon Bleu brought to you by The Hundred-Foot Journey.
