I attended the SpiceOdyssey event at At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy last Friday. What a great experience!
The 10 October SpiceOdyssey event is At-Sunrice’s signature student graduation project where the students whipped up authentic culinary renditions. This is a milestone project for them before graduating from the academy.
It was wonderful seeing (and tasting!) the culinary creations and presentations by the graduating students.
I was particularly impressed by the team that took on the ‘Intoxicants’ theme. The students truly transformed the space into a Alice in Wonderland dining experience, with savory and sweet offerings that fitted the theme perfectly.
My favourite dish was also from this team, ‘Sloth’, which was a Sayur Lodeh dish. The curry was presented in a syringe that one would inject into the dish before eating. It tasted really good. The curry was still warm when served and I loved the crunch of the vegetables and the fragrance of the sambal turnis.
And of course the cutest mushroom shaped dessert item, ‘Pride’ which was actually earl grey cream with lemon meringue cookies.
They even had a live cooking station making making satay sliders, which was titled ‘Greed’. The ‘Gluttony’ dish which was Ipoh Hor Fun was pretty yummy as well.
The rest of the students also did very well, taking on themes including Culinary, Health & Beauty, Rainbow, Aromatics, and Sex & Sensuality.
Check out the other amazing food creations by the students.
I was also really impressed by At-Sunrice’s 42,000 square feet professional cooking studios. The well equipped spacious studios that really made me feel like cooking too!
