I made Hello Kitty Omurice Bento! Looking forward to eating my lunchbox today~~
Omurice is Japanese omelette rice, usually made of fried rice wrapped in egg. I had leftover rice at home and decided to make some omurice with it.
Today’s Hello Kitty Bento is partly inspired by the cute Hello Kitty furikake that I bought at Isetan Supermarket recently. They are so cute!! The furikake (rice toppings) come with tiny Hello Kitty designs, which I picked out and added in the bento. Can you see them at the top left corner on top of the meat?
This is how the Hello Kitty furikake pack looks like. It comes in two flavours, Yellow (curry) and Orange (Chicken Rice). Both packs come with the tiny Hello Kitty furikake chips. They are not too expensive, so go grab some now!
In today’s bento, the technique I used in make the polka dot and kitty design omelette is similar to the Sleeping Bunny Recipe in my Kawaii Bento book.
The whole bento box is really full of Hello Kitty today! I also added some carrot cut-outs in Hello Kitty designs using cutters, some Hello Kitty tofu cubes, and Hello Kitty pasta pieces. The side dishes included sauteed thin pork slices, sauteed mushrooms with broccolin and lettuce.
Today’s bento is packed in my aluminum bento box that I bought from Kappabashi street (kitchen street) in Asakusa, Tokyo.

Hello Shirleen :) The tofu cubes are cute right! I got them from AEON supermarket in Hong Kong while travelling. The tofu cubes comes with the prints already. They are not selling here in Singapore, at least I have not seen them yet.

In this bento, the tofu squares came with the prints. I bought them at AEON supermarket while I was travelling in Hong Kong teaching bento.
In my bento recipes, you will see some tamagoyaki with prints, those are made using branding iron (check tools section in the book)
Hope this helps!!
