I want to say big big thank you to all of you who have supported me and attended my Kawaii Bento Book Launch event!
And to those who couldnt make it but sent me personal messages, texts giving me your blessings and support – Thank you so much too!
I am really very happy to see the encouraging turn-out at the launch event which was held last Saturday 6 December at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store, Ngee Ann City Level 4.
And of course not forgetting the bentos I made!
I made a total of three bento, I wanted to ensure variety and also to showcase some of the techniques in my Kawaii Bento book.
If you have not gotten a copy of the book, please do get one okie :D The books are now not only available in Singapore, but also in Malaysia, Taiwan (more countries will be stocking!), and many online stores. More details here.
So for the event, I made:
– (live demostration) Little Chicks Bento made from shaping riceballs
– (display bento) Panda Bento using seaweed cutting method
– (display bento) Christmas Santa Claus Bento using mashed potatoes
I only took photos of the bentos on the 2nd day, so pardon for the less than perfect look :P
Please check out photos from the event. ^ ^
The event started with me demostrating the making of the Little Chicks Bento recipe that is found in my book.
By mixing egg soboro with the rice and the right shaping and cutting techniques, the little chicks characters can be easily made for bento.
I also showed the audience how to cut the 3D flower cut outs, which I added into the bento.
Of the 3 bento, can you guess which is my favourite?
Of course I liked all 3 of them! But if I have to pick one, it will have to be the Panda bento! I like the end result of the seaweed cutting which I think suited the panda design very much.
Which one is your favourite? :D
After the live bento demo session, it was to move on to book signing and photo taking time!
Last but not least, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my husband, family and my dearest friends for their constant support!
And I was really touched as some of my blogger friends came to support too! Thank you so much Ian (The Silver Chef), Pauline, Sihan (Fundamentally-Flawed), Slyvester and Vickii (Vickii Ma)!
