Little Birds Kazarimaki sushi bento!
Chirp~Chirp~ I think these little birds are quite cute :) do you like them?
I always enjoy making kazarimaki sushi, which is also known as decorative sushi rolls, or sushi art rolls.
Since being certified as an instructor with the Japan Sushi Instructor Association in 2013, I have been incorporating kazarimaki sushi in my bento, and often making my own recipe designs.
Since today is a Monday, I thought these little birds will be a nice cheery start for the week.
Although the real reason for making this is recipe testing for my second cookbook.
Yes you heard that right! I will be writing a second cookbook of the Kawaii Series. And this time, this cookbook will be on cute decorative sushi art rolls~!!
The same reason why I have been relatively quiet on my social media for the past 2 weeks.
Although I have been blogging, even my blogger friends have noticed much less chatter from me online. Haha
The truth is that I have been busy preparing the recipes and manuscript.
I am really excited about this second cookbook to share with you my Kawaii Sushi Art Rolls recipes!
Very soon, you will also be able to make your own sushi rolls as my new cookbook will feature step by step photo guide for every single recipe :) Stay tuned for the book launch in second half of this year!
A quick glance of some of my past kazarimaki sushi creations:
Today’s Little Bird’s Kazarimaki sushi was made mainly from egg soboro, sushi rice, seaweed and carrot.
The side dishes were sauteed prawns, french beans with mushroom and carrots.
Plus today’s sushi art roll creation is also in line with #creativesghomecooks theme for March month. My second contribution for this online movement.
Read more about this online movement on The Silver Chef’s blog.
