Sakura season in Japan is one of the most romantic and beautiful~ What are some of your favourite ohanami spots?
I have only enjoyed ohanami (cherry blossom viewing) in Tokyo, would love to see sakura in Kyoto too.
Some of my favourite places include Sumida River (see pics below!) and Ueno Park. But I do want to visit Meguro river too~ well known for its cherry blossom season.
Since I was not able to visit Japan this spring (so sad!) I decided to make myself this super Japanese and sakura theme bento – Hello Kitty ohanami bento!
To make the cherry blossoms/sakura, I arranged some shaved ham slices in small bunches. Then I used my sakura cutters to cut pink kamaboko (Japanese fish cake) and arranged them on top.
Hello Kitty is sitting on the mat, clad in pink kimono enjoying a cup of hot green tea and enjoying ohanami :)
Hello Kitty is made from riceball with features added using egg sheet and seaweed. The sakura ribbon bow and the red mat are both red egg sheets.
The pink kimono was made from riceball wrapped in pink egg sheet.
Technique to make nice smooth egg sheets is in my Kawaii Bento cookbook!
The side dishes for today’s ohanami bento included sauteed prawns with french beans, cold tofu topped with tobikko and a sakura namu-fu slice, edamame beans and a sakura ohagi.
Enjoying my lunch with a cup of Tsujiri hot matcha latte~ so yummy!
I recently discovered matcha latte sachets by Tsujiri brand sold at Cold Storage, they are pretty good. Definitely not the same as drinking at their teahouse, but one of the better instant tea latte around.

Hi!
Which Cold Storage outlet did you purchase the Tsujiri matcha latte from? Are the sachets also available at the Tsujiri store itself?
Cheers :)
