The Little Prince Bento

The Little Prince Bento :)

The Little Prince is one of the most classic well known and most-read novella in the world.

This is my first The Little Prince bento character. I had initially wanted to shape the characters using rice but ended up using mashed potatoes as my potatoes were soon going bad and I wanted to use them up before they go to waste.

So I created a one-dish item for my bento’s main dish – fried rice.

The best time saver as all I need is to chop the ingredients, throw everything into the pan and fry!

This Little Prince bento is also inspired by the recent trailer I watched of the upcoming French animation movie ” Le Petit Prince “.

Can’t wait for the movie to reach the theaters.

I really hope they will screen it here!

The Little Prince and the fox character were both made from mashed potatoes.

I used Russet potatoes this time. The colours are created using some Wilton gel food colouring mixed/kneaded into the mashed potatoes.

The method of creating bento characters using mashed potatoes was also shared in my Kawaii Bento cookbook.

Features were added using seaweed.

To enhance the theme of the Little Prince, I added little stars cut from carrots in my bento and also for the photo styling.

Packed this in my round enamelware lunchbox from Noda Horo.

The ingredients for the fried rice included prawns, french beans, egg and shiitake mushrooms.
