Father’s Day Bento for this year!
I have made several Father’s Day Bento over the years of bento making, so decided to try a different design this time.
I based this on a manga/anime that I liked very much, called ‘Atashin’Chi’ (あたしんち) thought most would recognise the translated characters in the Taiwanese dubbed version of the anime <我們這一家>.
I remembered being so tickled when I first watch the anime series on television. You can check out some of the You Tube videos, totally hilarious!
So today’s Father’s Day Bento is based on the Father character from <我們這一家>.
His signature round face, white specs, laugh lines on his face. I also included his work suit, often depicted in grey.
The ingredients included:
- Japanese rice + teriyaki sauce (face/body/hands)
- Seaweed + cheese (hair)
- Seaweed (facial features)
- Grey, White, Yellow egg sheet (clothes)
- Japanese rice + seaweed (shoes)
The side dishes included teriyaki chicken, sauteed sprouts with chinese leeks, lettuce and cherry tomato.
How are you celebrating Father’s Day with your dearest daddy this year?
Wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to my Father, who has been a wonderful daddy figure throughout the years.
He is not perfect, nobody is, but I love him for his love for us (his children). I remembered how he would always send us around, even if it means driving a long way or making a detour etc.
I also learnt to tie a necktie from my Dad :)
