Saboten opens a brand new outlet at Millennia Walk.
Established in 1966, Saboten is well known for their tonkatsu dishes and currently has more than 500 outlets worldwide.
Though skeptical initially, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the ingredients with a friendly price tag.
Personally I rarely eat deep fried food, but Saboten impressed me with their tonkatasu and ebi fry items that were not only tasty, fried to perfection and without a greasy after taste.
I also super love their free flow shredded cabbage and variety of sauces provided.
And I am also assured of their quality as I have made return visits (not media tasting) and had an equally satisfying experience.
Instead of using frozen meat, Saboten imports fresh grain-fed pork from Indonesia to ensure their cutlets are juicy and succulent, while the secret to our crispy and non-greasy tonkatsu is the high quality breadcrumbs that are specially imported from Japan.
In conjunction with the new opening Saboten has also added the premium Hiroshima Oyster Katsu to its menu. Hiroshima is the largest and most famous oyster cultivating prefectures in Japan. Amongst connoisseurs, Hiroshima’s oysters are known to be the highest-grade of all.
My favourites is a tie between their signature tonkatsu and ebi-fry. Love their large fresh prawns!
Even though the prawns were deep fried, the prawns were so moist and retained all the sweet juices. So yummy.
The pork cutlet is also perfectly fried, very crisp crust yet the meat inside is not overcooked, still moist and delicious.
All my friends who tried their Hiroshima Oyster Katsu were raving about how fresh and yummy the oysters were. Many of them were having second servings of the oyster katsu.
So if you like oysters, remember to give this a try too!
