Recently I have been quite into watches.

After more than a decade of relying on phone to track time, having a watch for me is no longer just about time but a classic addition for my outfits.

Swiss made watches have long won the hearts of watch lovers for the known quality and precision. So I was really thrilled when I received this classic dress watch from Swiss traditional watch-maker, Claude Bernard.

The model is 85018, under their Classic Automatic Open Heart Lady collection. And yes, 100% made in Switzerland.

I really adore this modern elegant dress watch with the unique open heart on the watch dail, allowing me to see the balance wheel in motion, making its thousands of vibration per hour.

And of course I chose the watch in my favourite hues of white strap band and rose gold case.

Claude Bernard and specialty mechanical watch-maker, Arbutus, also recently launched the week-long “A Celebration of SG50 Watch Artisans” Exhibition at Vivocity.

In celebration of the nation’s Jubilee, Arbutus initiated the ‘SG50 Watch Artisans’ exhibition to display and retail commemorative timepieces in collaboration with local youth visual artists from 10 Square @ Orchard Central.

Each timepiece features the miniature artworks of the youth visual artistes on 44mm-diameter watch dials that represent iconic places in Singapore which hold a special meaning in the hearts of Singaporeans.

Priced at S$1,800 each, all proceeds will go towards The Business Times Budding Artists’ Fund.

At the same roadshow event, Claude Bernard “Time is Movement” saw the collaboration with local Le Cordon Bleu-trained chocolatier Janice Wong, owner of chocolate café, 2am: dessertbar.

Wong created the Time is Movement chocolate sculpture made with 30kg of 76% Equateur dark chocolate.

Like the chocolate sculpture, every Claude Bernard timepiece is made up of intricate details in its Swiss movement that is carefully hand assembled to allow the timepiece to function with precision. Expect the finesse of quality which commercial mass production cannot achieve.
