Kind of how I always feel these days…sleepy… zzz…. hahah
Can’t believe it is autumn again. One of my favourite season of the year, aside from Spring of course. Autumn is the season of good food, lovely weather and beautiful foilage.
Will be going back to Japan next month to enjoy Autumn~~
This Sleeping Totoro is inspired 3 things. First, a bento that I have seen many years back made by Anna the Red, second my Totoro sleeping plush toy (that snores too) hahha super cute and lastly, autumn!
Check out my sleeping Totoro plush toy, with a light press on the button hidden in its arm, Totoro snores and even the tummy moves up and down :P
The beautiful cotton flowers are from Fleuriste SG too. I have them for months, they look so perfect even when dry. one of the most lasting dry flowers~~
For the sleeping Totoro, I shaped Japanese rice mixed with ground black sesame into the shape of Totoro.
The details are added using
- sushi seaweed (eyes, nose, tummy marks)
- deep fried pasta sticks (whiskers)
- chicken ham, pink kamaboko (mouth)
- white egg sheet (tummy)
Chibi Totoro was made from some mashed potato and seaweed for the eyes.
Another view of my Sleeping Totoro. I love the colours of the autumn leaves and tried to depict that in my Sleeping Totoro bento today too.
The leaves were cut using cutters and from carrot and egg sheet. And I added some leaf shape pasta pieces too.
The other side dishes included grilled salmon fillet and some blanched broccoli.
