Santa Sushi Art Roll サンタさんの飾り巻き寿司

Heheh I know this is way too early but I am thinking of teaching this Santa sushi art roll for my December class so wanted to give it a go today. Do you like it? 

I had many requests for sushi art roll classes and also for December classes, so I decided to create a festive theme sushi art roll – Santa Claus, which will be a lovely addition for bento or served at parties. 

This is my own original recipe for Santa sushi art roll. Taking reference from an online picture, I made the Santa sushi art roll freehand, weighing the portions as I went along to develop the recipe.

The ingredients included

• Santa’s hat (sushi rice with ebiko, hanpen, sushi rice, seaweed)
• Santa’s face (sushi rice with a little teriyaki sauce, carrot slice, black sesame seeds, seaweed)
• Santa’s Beard (sushi rice, seaweed)

I am happy with the end result of the big white beard for Santa Claus! 

This sushi art roll would be perfect for a Christmas Bento right? So I packed the Santa sushi art rolls into my bento today ;) The side dishes for today’s bento were shrimp patty, broccoli, lettuce, edamame beans, strawberries, baby corn and grapes.
